AI for Retail and Ecommerce in New Zealand

Product listings, store SEO, sales across every channel, supplier invoices and the inbox. Most of a retailer's week is admin around the sale. We connect Claude to Shopify, Xero and the rest of your stack so it does the reading and drafting, and you make the calls.

  • 279 products given new SEO in a day
  • 6 storefronts in one Claude answer
  • 50+ businesses helped across NZ

For NZ retailers and online stores running Shopify, Xero and a point-of-sale or stock system.

The problem

Your week goes on the admin around the sale

  • Listings, SEO, supplier invoices, stock and an inbox that never empties.
  • Every channel has its own report, so nobody sees the whole business at once.
  • The fix is not another app. It is getting the tools you already run to talk.

What can AI do for a retail or ecommerce business in NZ?

Take the reading, retyping and first drafts off your team: product titles, descriptions and SEO written in your voice, sales compared across stores and channels, supplier invoices checked and stock received, and ad results split from repeat orders. The calls on price, stock and customers stay with you.

Shopify and Xero both have Claude connectors you can switch on. Where they stop - several stores at once, stock systems, email platforms - we build custom read-only connectors, so nothing changes in a live system until a person says so.

Where it pays

What we actually get asked for

The jobs retail and ecommerce clients actually bring us. A person checks the work before anything goes live.

Product listings and store SEO

Claude writes SEO titles, descriptions and image alt text from your product sheet, in your voice, and logs every change before it goes into Shopify. Little Taonga had 279 products done in an afternoon, with macrons checked.

Sales across every store and channel

Ask in plain English which market grew and why one dipped. For Shakti Mat, one connector covers all six Shopify storefronts, so Claude compares them in a single answer and checks the email platform for the reason.

Supplier invoices and stock receiving

Claude reads a supplier invoice from email, checks the prices and receives the stock into your point of sale. At Little Taonga it caught a sync quietly resetting costs in Lightspeed.

Supplier costs kept current

Price changes matched by barcode and SKU, updated with a log you can roll back, every Monday. Little Taonga updated 43 supplier costs this way.

Ad results you can trust

Claude reads Google Ads next to your order data. At Little Taonga, 75-85% of the sales Google credited to ads were wholesale reorders. The true retail return was about 6x, not 36x.

Customer emails and enquiries

Claude drafts replies from your policies, order history and past answers, in your voice. Nothing sends until a person has read it.

Six jobs running in Claude after one day

Little Taonga sells online, wholesale and in its own Jade Kiwi store. In one day on site we connected Shopify, Xero, Lightspeed and Google Ads, and saved store SEO, wholesale invoicing, stock receiving and payroll as skills.

Claude reads. People decide.

The same rules on every retail build:

  • Every connector starts read-only.
  • Each person connects with their own access, so nobody sees more than they already could.
  • Claude never changes a price, stock level, order or customer record on its own.
  • Every change it does make is logged, and a person approves it first.

Blake gets it - prompt, professional, knows his stuff. He took us through the easy set ups and built custom connectors and processors for our more niche requirements. Quick, fun and already changing the way we work.

Alex and I spent a day with Blake from Harkness AI setting up Claude across our complicated business systems, and it was the best investment we've made! Rather than just showing us features, he built everything around our real platforms. We highly recommend Harkness AI to any business wanting to simplify its systems, work smarter and get real, practical value from AI.

Getting started

How a retailer starts

  • Bring your logins and a list of real jobs. A day on site with your team, on your live systems. No demo store.
  • Connect the stack, read-only. Shopify, Xero, your point of sale, email and ads, each with the access that person already has.
  • Run real jobs, save them as skills. Store SEO, supplier invoices, the weekly report. Each one saved so it runs the same way next time, and waits for approval.

Your existing tools

We work with what you already run

Nothing to replace. These are the tools NZ retailers already run, and the work goes into connecting them properly.

  • Omnisend
  • Klaviyo
  • Mailchimp
  • Gorgias
  • Google Ads and Meta Ads
  • Gmail and Google Drive

Shopify and Xero have Claude connectors you switch on, but they reach one store or one organisation at a time. For several stores, stock systems and email platforms, we build custom read-only connectors.
