Short answer: Claude Pro costs US$20 a month, about NZ$35 before GST. Max starts at US$100 a month (about NZ$174), Team is US$20-25 a seat for a standard seat (about NZ$35-44), and Enterprise is US$20 a seat plus usage billed at API rates. Anthropic only lists prices in US dollars, so below is every plan converted to NZD, how GST works for a New Zealand business, and which plan I’d pick for different kinds of business.
All prices come from Anthropic’s Claude pricing page, checked on 18 September 2026. The NZD figures use the European Central Bank euro reference rates for 17 September 2026, the latest published when I checked, which put US$1 at about NZ$1.74. They are rounded, and they will move with the exchange rate.

What does each Claude plan include?
Free
Chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation and running code, memory across conversations, connecting your apps and tools, and Artifacts. Enough to find out whether Claude suits the way you work.
Pro
Everything in Free plus more usage, handing off and scheduling tasks, Claude Design, Slides and Docs, Claude Code, Claude Science, Projects, more Claude models, and Claude in Chrome and Microsoft 365. Monthly or yearly billing. This is the plan most individual business owners should be on.
Max
Everything in Pro, with a choice of 5x or 20x Pro’s usage, higher output limits, early access to new features and priority access at busy times. Billed monthly only. It’s for people who work in Claude all day - usually heavy Claude Code users - and keep hitting Pro’s limits.
Team
For 2 to 150 people. Standard seats get all Claude features with more usage than Pro; premium seats get 5x the usage of a standard seat, and you can mix the two. Team adds enterprise search across your organisation, central billing and administration, single sign-on, admin controls for remote and local connectors, deployment of the desktop app, and no model training on your content by default. You can bill monthly or yearly and add seats mid-term.
Enterprise
US$20 a seat a month plus usage billed at API rates, so the cost scales with the models and tasks your team runs. Billed yearly only. It adds spend limits for users and the organisation, role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, a compliance API, custom data retention, network-level access control and IP allowlisting. You can start self-serve or go through Anthropic’s sales team.
Do you pay GST on Claude in New Zealand?
Claude’s listed prices don’t include tax, and Anthropic says your billing address decides how tax is calculated. Under IRD’s rules for overseas suppliers of remote services, a supplier should treat a NZ customer as not GST-registered unless the customer says they are or gives their GST number.
So if your business is GST-registered, enter your GST number in the tax ID field when you sign up - Anthropic explains where in its help article on tax IDs, and there’s a separate one for Team plans. Adding it later only applies to future invoices. If you’re not registered, expect 15% GST on top: Pro at US$20 comes to about NZ$40 a month. Check your first invoice, and ask your accountant how to code it in Xero - I’m an engineer, not a tax adviser.
Does Claude charge in NZ dollars?
Anthropic’s pricing page lists Claude prices in US dollars. If your card is charged in USD, your bank converts it and may add a foreign currency fee, so the amount on your statement moves a little with the exchange rate each month. The yearly Pro and Team plans are billed once up front, so there’s one conversion a year instead of twelve.
Which Claude plan should a New Zealand business pick?
- Just trying it: start on Free, and move to Pro once you’re using it every day.
- Sole trader or one-person business: Pro. Only move to Max if you regularly hit the usage limits. There’s more on what that looks like day to day on the AI for sole traders page.
- A team of 2 to 150 people: Team with standard seats, and premium seats only for the heaviest users. Pay yearly if you’re sure - it saves US$5 a month on each standard seat. If staff will use Claude with client or customer information, Team’s admin controls and no-training default are the main reason to choose it over a handful of personal Pro accounts.
- A larger organisation with compliance requirements: Enterprise, if you need SCIM, audit logs, custom data retention or IP allowlisting. Budget for the usage on top of the seat price.
What is the difference between Claude Pro and Claude Team?
Pro is a personal plan: one person, US$20 a month or US$17 billed yearly, with model training on unless you opt out. Team is for 2 to 150 people: a standard seat costs US$25 monthly or US$20 yearly and includes more usage than Pro, central billing, admin controls for connectors, single sign-on and no model training on your content by default. If more than one person in the business uses Claude with client information, Team is the safer choice.
How does Claude pricing compare with ChatGPT?
At the levels most NZ businesses buy, they now cost the same: Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus are both US$20 a month, and Claude Team and ChatGPT Business both charge US$25 a seat monthly or US$20 yearly for a standard seat. The difference is what each does once it’s connected to your business - I compare them side by side in Claude vs ChatGPT for NZ business.
Picking a plan is the easy part. The value comes from setting Claude up properly: the right plan and privacy settings, connected to your email, calendar and Xero, with Skills for the work you repeat. That’s what my Claude setup for NZ businesses does. If you’re on Xero, here’s how to connect Claude to Xero yourself.
