Web apps, client portals, internal tools and integrations, built around how your business actually works. Fixed-price quotes, working software in weeks.

DigiKōr, a learning platform we built for Campfire Studios.

A Christchurch team that builds the software you cannot buy

Harkness AI designs and builds custom software for New Zealand businesses: web apps, client portals, internal tools, integrations between business systems, startup MVPs and websites. Every build is quoted at a fixed price against a written scope, built with AI-accelerated engineering so working software arrives in weeks, and yours to own once it is paid for.

Scope, build, test, launch, then keep improving

  1. Free call

What you need, and whether it needs building at all.

  2. Scope and fixed price

In writing: what it does, what it does not, what it costs.

  3. First working version

In weeks, not months, on a live test link.

  4. You test it

Your team and real users try every increment.

    A person decides
  5. Launch and handover

Live, documented, and the code is yours.

  6. Support

Questions

What people ask us

How long does custom software take to build?

Most first versions are in front of real users within weeks. Paagaa's core referral features worked three weeks after the first commit, and Good Church went from developer handover to public sign-up in about four weeks. Larger platforms then grow in steady increments you can test.

How is custom software development priced?

At a fixed price against a written scope, agreed before work starts and after a free 30-minute call. We do not publish rates, because a single integration and a multi-tenant platform are very different jobs. The build is AI-accelerated, so you pay for working software, not for hours.

Who owns the code?

You do. By default, all code, documentation and assets we build for you are owned by your business once the engagement is paid for. You can keep us on for support or hand it to another developer.

What tech stack do you use?

Most builds use TypeScript with React or Next.js, a Postgres database such as Supabase, and Vercel hosting. They are widely used, well documented and easy for another developer to pick up. If you already run a stack, we build to fit it.

Do you support the software after launch?

Yes. We host and keep developing several of the platforms we have built, including DigiKōr, Good Church and Vaka Ō Te Tupuna, and keep adding features to Nudge and Paagaa. If you would rather run it yourself, we hand over with documentation.

Can you work with the systems we already use?

Yes, and most builds do. We connect to tools such as Xero, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and HubSpot, and build API integrations where no ready-made connection exists. Paagaa reads bank data through open banking, and Good Church looks churches up on the Charities Register.

Got software you need built?

Talk it through on a free call. We will tell you what the first version looks like, how long it takes and roughly what it costs.
